Joanna, Practice Manager
Joanna began working at Animal Care Center in 2000 as a veterinary technician. She has a special interest in canine and feline behavior and before becoming manager at Best Care Animal Hospital, she ran puppy kindergarten classes at Country Oaks Animal Hospital for 5 years. Joanna also enjoyed teaching humans and pets how to overcome separation anxiety and fear-based behaviors through positive reinforcement and owner education.
These days she enjoys fostering a positive work environment for the team at Best Care Animal Hospital and providing continued education opportunities to all team members.
Joanna is married and has three wonderful children at home and one rescue dog named Coolee.
Melissa, Lead Technician
Melissa has been a part of the COAH team since 2012. She grew up alongside her coworkers and considers them her second family.
Proud mom to two boys and one girl, she loves spending time with her children, as well as dancing, smiling, and laughing. She has a cat named Abu at home.
A certified vet assistant, Melissa’s professional interests include surgery and emergency care.
Elizabeth, Veterinary Technician
Elizabeth joined our team in 2014. She’s been working in the vet field for 16 years and loves everything about her job.
She has two cats, Evee and Autumn, and a son. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her little man and collecting Vera Bradley purses. She also loves Harry Potter.
Megan, Veterinary Technician
Megan is currently in school studying to become a small animal veterinarian. She earned her CVT in 2014 and particularly enjoys assisting our veterinarians, preventative medicine, and client education. Her work at COAH has made her determined to serve her community as a full-time vet.
Megan has four dogs and one cat. In her free time, she enjoys being with family and freewheeling/four-wheeling.
Sam came to us in 2011 as a Hudson High School student. She was participating in the veterinary assistant program and officially joined our team two years later. She has a special interest in animal behavior and in monitoring patients during surgery, as well as in helping them recover afterward.
A certified veterinary assistant, Sam lives with her husband and child, as well as two Jack Russells – Charlie and Milo – and a tuxedo cat named Bruce. In her free time, she likes working out, playing volleyball, and hanging out with friends and family.
Mary, Veterinary Technician
Mary is joined our team in 2020, having earned her Associate’s of applied science in veterinary technology from Southern Regional Technical College. Prior to becoming a vet tech, she worked with wildlife for 12 years, beginning at age 13.
Originally from New Jersey, Mary has also lived in the Poconos Mountains in Pennsylvania and in Georgia. She moved to Florida for the warmth and the amazing southern food. A life-long learner, she is particularly interested in ultrasound and hopes to be certified in that area very soon.
Mary has four dogs – Oby, Rufus, Lulu, and Dingo – and two snakes named Ciaran and Goon. When she’s not working, she enjoys hiking, fishing, kayaking, swimming in the ocean, and hanging out with her pups.
Sandra, Veterinary Technician
Sandra joined our team in 2018 as an animal care attendant and worked her way up to technician. Originally from Virginia, she grew up surrounded by pets and entered the veterinary field as a kennel attendant in 2013.
Sandra’s professional interests include interpreting radiographs, monitoring surgeries, and reading cytologies. She has two cats at home – a tabby domestic shorthair named Dinah and a gray domestic medium hair named Zoey.

Gabby, Veterinary Technician
Active in the vet field since she was 15 years old, Gabby took a break in 2009 to raise her children. She came back to work in 2017. She has a special interest in surgery and emergency care, but every part of her job makes her heart smile.
Her furry family consists of Max, Gidget, Coco, Crystal, and Darth Vader. In her free time, she enjoys working out and spending time with her kids, who are very active in sports.
Veterinary Technician Assistant
Courtney, Technician Assistant
A certified veterinary assistant, Courtney joined our team in 2016. She is a very caring, empathetic person who always goes out of her way to help others.
She’s the proud pet parent to Creeker and enjoys fishing, four-wheeling, and making wooden portraits. Her professional interests include radiology and forensics.
Yvette, Lead Receptionist
Yvette joined our team in 2008. She loves every aspect of veterinary medicine, including behavioral counseling. She also thrives on customer service and the relationships she forges with our clients and patients.
Married for more than 30 years, Yvette is a proud mother and elated grandmother of two beautiful girls. Her four-legged family includes Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Lucy Lu, and Jinx.
In her free time, she enjoys boating, spending time with family and friends, and live music.
Virginia has been active in the veterinary field for more than a decade, working as a veterinary technician, kennel attendant, groomer, and receptionist. Animal welfare has always been her passion. She couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
Originally from New York, Virginia has been married to her husband, Louis, for nine years. They have five dogs at home – a Chihuahua named Tutsie, a mini Schnauzer named Callie, a Lab named Axel, a Lab named Amber, and a German shepherd named Anya.
When she’s not working, Virginia loves to garden, spend time with friends and family, and have fun with her dogs. She also enjoys visiting Florida’s national parks and beaches.
Katie, Receptionist/Lead Kennel Technician
Katie loves everything having to do with animals. Her family raises dairy goats and makes soap, lotions, and cheese from their milk. In addition to six goats, her pet family includes three tortoises, three dogs, and two rats.
A certified veterinary assistant, Katie enjoys reading and being outdoors.
Animal Care Attendant
Makayla, Kennel Technician
Makayla joined our team in 2020, having graduated with a degree in cosmetology. She would love to be a nurse or flight attendant someday or a vet tech because she loves working with and helping animals.
She has two dogs at home and loves to spend time with her family and her boyfriend. She also loves going to the beach and the movies.
Grace, Kennel Attendant
Grace will graduate from Fivay High School in 2022. An experienced gymnast, she takes part in varsity cheer and enjoys off-roading, white water rafting, cliff jumping, and going to the beach.
She’s the proud pet parent of one rottweiler/lab mix and a black cat. She planned to enter the cosmetology field, but, having joined the COAH team in 2020, she’s now very interested in veterinary work.
